I am a freelance writer and editor with over eighteen years of experience, working for prominent and successful international publishers and packagers. I specialize in writing for children and parents and about food!

I have written and edited a number of books for children, many of which are novelty books (books with pop-ups, tabs, touch-and-feel elements or other interactive parts). I have also created content for websites and smartphone apps.

I wrote parenting pieces for the GGMG Magazine and blog as a staff writer (the GGMG is a non-profit for moms with young children with over 4,ooo members) from 2014 until Summer 2018. I also wrote a number of pieces for blog posts for the Little Lane parenting blog.

My iPhone/iPad app guide to Indian restaurant dining, Indian Menu Interpreter* is sadly no longer available. I am happy to consider more traditional uses for the text from the app, which is essentially a glossary of Indian restaurant food and ingredients.

I have also worked with elementary/primary aged children; teaching and tutoring at 826 Valencia, an amazing non-profit which aims to encourage kids to read and write for three years and more recently, teaching tinkering at the Renegade Girls Tinkering Club.

Some of the companies I have worked with include, Orchard Books, Macmillan Children’s Books, Dorling Kindersley, Pinwheel Limited, Green Android, Leapfrog, Renegade Girls Tinkering Club. Feel free to contact me at info@shaheenbilgrami dot com if you have any questions!
